Recognized worldwide as knowledge creators, our research faculty are noted experts in the fields environmental science, ecology, fisheries science, oceanography, environmental molecular biology and biotechnology, and environmental chemistry. As leaders of the academic community our faculty have received major research awards, hold positions as heads of professional organizations, and serve as Editors and Associate Editors of the most prestigious academic journals. Our strong research culture, coupled with our research resources enables breakthrough knowledge and is a key factor in attracting top faculty talent to the University System of Maryland.
