Debbie Morrin-Nordlund, Former MEES Assistant Director

Debbie Morrin-Nordlund, who served as the Assistant Director of the MEES Graduate Program for over 18 years, passed away in early 2014 at the age of 51.  The Morrin family has donated funds in her memory to assist MEES students to present their work at professional meetings.  This award carries a stipend of up to $1,200. 


Criteria for the Morrin-Nordlund Award: 

To be eligible, the nominee must: 

  • Be nominated by their major advisor
  • Have an outstanding record in graduate studies
  • Have a potential to contribute to his or her field of study 
  • Be presenting their own work at a National or International meeting

A complete nomination package must include:

  • Nomination coversheet (click here)
  • Personal statement; Prepare a 1-2 page personal statement discussing academic experiences, accomplishments, challenges overcome, and long-term career aspirations. 
  • Current CV
  • Letter of recommendation from the student's advisor
  • Statement describing how the funds will be used including a copy of the abstract submitted for the meeting
