Seminars and Issue Study Groups
Seminars broaden student awareness of science beyond a specific program of study and/or provide in-depth analysis relevant to the historical underpinnings of scientific disciplines. One seminar per year is required while enrolled in the MEES program.
Issue Study Groups are capstone ventures to be taken later in the students’ program of studies. These efforts focus on current issues in environmental science and policy and thus hold considerable relevance to society today. Issue Study Groups collaboratively research, discuss, and synthesize information on the chosen topic, culminating in an accessible item of communication. Students are required to complete one Issue Study Group project, which counts as a seminar for that year.
